Last Sunday I took a flight from LHR to Singapore! It was a 12 hour long flight, thankfully there were some spare seats on the plane so after a lot of moving around I finally found a row free which meant I could lie down to sleep! I was practically in first class. After landing I took the MRT to Jalan Besar.
From Jalan Besar my hostel was a minutes walk away. I stayed at footprints hostel. The journey took forever but it was actually good timing because as soon as I got to my room Abby Tutt-Leppard walked through the door! Abby's studying just across the boarder in Malaysia. It was great to see her! We had a lot to catch up on so we headed to Arab street where there's a lot of cool places to eat. Definitely go here if you're in the area! We spent the whole evening just catching up and having honest conversation, it was amazing.
I was only in Singapore for 48 so here's my guide to the most important things to do in Singapore.
Firstly, wonder round little India. Our hostel was very close so it was a quick walk away. Because it's nearly Diwali the streets of little India were decorated in lots of colour's and patterns, it was really fun to take pictures!
Secondly, go to Gardens by the Bay. This is probably what everyone thinks of when they hear Singapore, but it an absolute must! I was blow away by the architecture, I have never seen something so beautiful that is man made. It honestly was amazing. We also went into the cloud dome. I think it cost us 14 Singapore Dollars to get in, but it was really worth it. It's lovely and cool in there with this great big waterfall and loads of greenery. Beautiful for pictures! During the walk from the MRT station to the trees, you get to walk through this amazing shopping centre. It's super posh, it even had its on punting river inside! You also get to walk through marina bay sands, its this hotel that looks like it has a boat on top of it. It was an amazing infinity pool at the but its only available for guests and rooms are super pricey! One day
Finally, at 19:45 and 20:45 at Gardens by the Bay there is a free light show where the trees are light up and change colour to music. It's a really amazing show and its like being in the theatre, the songs are great and the trees look incredible lit up. Unfortunately Abby had to leave in the evening and we chatted so much that I nearly missed the show! Thankfully I got there with seconds to swear and a very sweaty face!
