Dubrovnik

So I've started my Interrailing trip around Europe. We flew into Dubrovnik on the 11th and got there at about 10am local time. Then we got a bus to the bus station, this cost us about 30kuna each. There's a massive supermarket there so we bought some fruit, cereal, milk, pasta and pesto. Then we caught the number one bus to our hostel (this cost 15kunas each way, as they didn't do returns). While we were waiting for the bus to arrive the gentleman next to us asked us where we were going, so I showed him the name of the town which the bus should be heading to, and he kindly pointed us in the right direction because we were on the wrong side of the road! The bus driver was also helpful as he told us which stop to get off. It was then a short walk down the road to the hostel, it was well signed and easy to get to even though there was no pavement, so we had to be really careful when walking. The hostel Dubrovnik where we stayed was much nicer than advertised; it had a small pool which we could use for free as well as canoes which we could use on the lake. The dorm itself consisted of 18 beds, and this was more than I thought. The showers were also see-through so we had to carefully place our towels over the door and get changed in a toilet cubical. Overall the hostel was nice, it had a party atmosphere as most nights there would be a party going on at the bar.

We spend our time in Dubrovnik looking around the old town. It's very beautiful and there was always something going on in the evening, the first night there was opera, the second night there was traditional dancing. We ate out most nights we were there, it's quite cheap and portion sizes were good so we shared meals.

We spent one day on the beach, it was lovely relaxing on the beach and then swimming in the sea, the water was so blue and refreshing.

On the last night I went up the cable kart which cost 120kuna, we went up just before sunset so we could see the view in the light, during sunset and at night with all the lights on. I'd recommend going up there, there's a restaurant and gift shop up there as well.
