Frankfurt

It took just over four hours to get from Berlin to Frankfurt via Train, but we didnt mind it becuase the Train was so nice! We're staying at Frankfurt Hostel which is right next to the Station so it was so easy to find. They do free breakfast and Pasta for dinner here which is so helpful for our budget!

On our first day in frankfurt we caught the Underground form Hauptbahnhof to Dom, this is the Station right next to cathedral. We woundered round and found a Festival going on. There were fan fare rides as well as Food stalls and markets. We had a look at what was on offered then got an ice cream and sat for a bit to take in the attmosphere. We had a look at going on a hop on hop off bus tour but decided not to as some People at the hostel said is wasnt good value for Money. We then headed to the main Tower, Frankfurt has got quite a few Skyscrapers compared to other cities we have visited. It was quick a Long walk, the nearest Underground Station to the Tower is Willy Brandt Platz, but it was well worth it! It cost us 4.50euro to get in, this was the Student Price. The Tower is 200m tall and has an outside viewing deck, the views were very beautiful and it was lovely to sit outside and soak up the sun. We stayed up there for just over an hour. Once we were back down we stumbled across one of Frankfurts main Shopping Areas, Hauptwache. After persuading each other not to buy over priced urban outfitters tops, we headed back to dom for something to eat. We grabbed some burgers from a street stall and ate them there, one Thing ive noticved about Germany is that they love meat! Its everywhere! Then i bought a crepe and we sat by the main river while watching passer byers. Just before we headed back we had a look at a Bridge that crossed to the other side, it was full of locks locked onto the metal barriers and was quite sweet and made for a good Picture.

The next day we caught the U4 to Brokenheimer Warte to go visit Palmengarten. Its basically a park dedicated to growing plants. It cost us 3euros to get in, Student Price. We woundered round the Palm house and then the rose gardens before heading to the Tropical centre which had a lot of cactus plants. It was all very pretty and a lovely walk around. then we went for lunch at this very posh cafe, they did fancy Puddings and was quite expensive so we order form the Kids menu! After lunch we saw a lake with paddle boats on it so went and had a go. It cost 4euros and then 1.50euro more per extra Person. We paddled around for 30min and had a look at the fishes which kept coming up with their mouths wide open ready to be fed. There were loads of them and some of them were quite scary! Then we headed back to Dom Station where we found a band playing so we sat down with a beer and listened to them for a couple of hours. The attmosphere was very chilled and I took this time to enjoy our last evening in frankfurt. I also bought another crepe! I cant get enough of them!

Overall Frankfurt is a really nice place to get a taste of german culture, its got great landscapes with its towering Skyscrapers and main river. Its perfect for a Weekend City get away, but wouldn't stay here fore more then a few days.
