Mount Taranaki - NZ

After waking up just south of Wellington near the redrocks free camping spot, we spent the day driving to Mount Taranaki which is near New Plymouth.

It took us a good 5 hours, but we stopped for coffee (hot choc for me) along the way at Gorge

By the time we got to the camp site it was dark. So we got ready for bed and slept.

In the morning we woke up to such a gorgeous view. I was a little nervous that it would be cloudy like it was when we tried to go to Mount Doom, but it was so clear! Not a cloud in the sky. There was also a cafe where we could get food and get warm by the fire.

A few minutes walk away from the cafe is Dawson Waterfalls. It's a super easy, beautiful walk. I slipped a lot though because I wore stupid trainers which has lots all of their grip (I have since replaced these shoes you'll be pleased to hear).

We spent the morning here just exploring and soaking up the beautiful view. It is also a beautiful drive up the the car park and cafe from the main road. Would thoroughly recommend camping here! There are plenty of hikes you can do as well but unfortunately we didn't have time.
