Split

To get to split we caught a bus from the bus station, this cost us 118kuna. You need to buy tickets asap or you can book them online before you go. Thankfully there were enough spaces for us to get on. The journey took about 4 hours. Once we got to split we went to the tourist center which was at the station to ask directions for hostel Ana. They gave us a really helpful map which had the hostel on as well as other hostels and hotels. We found it really easily, the location was amazing! We got there at about 3:20pm, we had sea kayaking booked for 4pm so didn't have much time to get ready for that. We booked with red adventures, it was about £35 but well worth it if you want to spend that much. They picked us up from hotel luxe and then drove to the beach, they gave us a dry bag and life jackets and then we paired up to jump into the kayaks. We kayaked for about 7km before getting to a small beach, we then had the opportunity to snorkel and cliff jump! Cliff jumping was so good! Although if you're not a strong swimmer then it might not have been fun because to get to the cliffs you have to swim against strong currents and then cliff the rocks while waves crashed against them, but it was all part of the fun! And completely safe! The guides were really fun as well! They helped you if you needed help and advised where best to jump off.

The next day we wondered around split, it has a much more happening atmosphere with a lot more young people which I enjoyed. We went to the docks and booked on an island trip, we were going to book to go to the blue lagoon but it wasn't good whether the next day and we were gone the day after. But the island tour was really fun, we went on a boat which was refreshing and then snorkels before would wrong round an island and had some food.

The next day we rested for a bit before wondering around the markets, there are a lot of markets! And we went to go see the bell tower! It's a very beautiful city, the bell tower costs 20kuna to go up.

On our last night in split there was a complication with hostel bookings which meant that we didn't have a place to stay for the last night, we quickly got on hostelworld and found a place for £60! This was way out of our budget but was the best we could get for one night with such short notice. The hostel was called en route hostel and it was very nice! Really nice beds and showers but I would expect that if I'm paying £60 a night! Also a festival called ultra was on when we were there so accommodation prices could of gone up because of that reason.

We caught our first train from split! We got the 14:35 train to Zagreb! Everything was fine until someone said they had reserved our seats, this was confusing because it's mandatory to reserve seats in Croatia so we had reserved them. It turns out that we had reserved seats for the morning train at 8am and not this one, this meant that our reservation was not valid! Thankfully the ticket inspector didn't notice and there was a spare two seats but the long 6hr 15min train journey was not a relaxing one! It stops at 10 stations and everything it stops me and emi were praying no one was seating in the seats we had!

So top tip: check what train you have reserved! It may not be the train that you had planned to reserve because they might not have been able to get reservations!
